Study in New Zealand: Applying to the Universities

The "Study in New Zealand" website is an online database that has information about all the Universities and Institutes in New Zealand and the programs they offer.

You can also find information on scholarships and living in New Zealand. The advanced search option allows one to search for one's choice of program or subject, throughout New Zealand or in a specific city, at various educational levels.

The applicant can make use of this website to acknowledge oneself with various Universities offering the program of choice and relevant scholarships being awarded.

HOW TO APPLY:

Applications must be sent directly to the Universities. Almost every university in New Zealand has an Online Application System, where one can create an account, upload the relevant documents and even track the application status.

Some of the Universities like University of Auckland do not charge application fees for International Students. However, this varies with every university so, do inquire at the respective International Offices.
Some of the Universities have early deadlines and some of them accept applications after the deadline if there are any places left. Make sure to check the deadlines on their websites and apply well in advance to be eligible for any scholarships offered and to allow more time for your Visa process.

The documents usually asked for the application purposes are:

1. A proof of Identity such as your passport or any other valid
document such as your National Identity Card.

2. Official transcripts and certificates from all universities and
    institutions previously attended.

3. Proof of English Proficiency such as TOEFL, IELTS etc.

4. Letters of Recommendation

5. Statement of Purpose, if required by the program you are
    applying to.

6. GRE scores are generally not required but some universities
recommend it and this depends on the program you are applying
    to.

The application fees is non refundable and ranges from NZ$60 to NZ$150.

To know the deadlines for scholarships, refer to the University's student finance pages or browse through the Study in New Zealand website.

Once you have been offered admission into a particular university, you can either accept it or decline it by logging into your Online Application System. If accepted, the university will guide you further on how to register and pay your fees.
